My work with sound started by exploring the intersection of songwriting and engineering.
Using a guitar and a digital setup, I began writing songs and teaching myself to record and mix for local indie bands like Fiery Mace and Bye Bye Joe. This hands-on start in Taipei's underground scene eventually led me to London.
I spent four years in the UK—two years at Point Blank immersing myself in the technical craft of production while absorbing the city's rich electronic music culture. This was followed by two years of living and creating within the local scene. During this time, I collaborated across diverse genres, from hip-hop with KingKilili to electronic music with Siteng. In 2023, I was based in a container studio in Hackney to develop my own sound, which resulted in five singles released under the project Ni Jay.
Now, I am back in Taipei, working from my home studio. My setup is built around a balance of analog hardware and digital tools. Whether I'm engineering a session or producing my own tracks, my focus is on the specific texture of a sound and the way it makes people feel.
Currently producing, mixing, and releasing music as Ni Jay.
